I'm sending this note in hopes that you will publish it in our SCLA magazine.
Mac (our son) and I went to the recent show in Conroe, TX. We had a lot of fun and talked to a lot of people there. The thing that came across to me was that people really love their llamas and they enjoy doing things with them. The other thing that I heard over and over is that we have to find ways to get prices up and to get more people to own llamas.
David and I joined Collectible Llamas, Inc. (CLI) a few weeks ago. We put a lot of thought into this. We believe that CLI offers some real hope for our industry. All of us love our llamas. What we need is a way to get a return from them. We believe that this will be possible through the efforts of CLI.
Some say that if you belong to CLI that you do not support other organizations. That's not the case at all. CLI believes in ALSA and so do we. We hope that ALSA will step up to and address the issues it's facing right now. The industry needs ALSA and it needs CLI too. CLI also believes that ILR offers a valuable service to many people. The CLI registry will offer an alternative for owners that want to add credibility to their registrations.
I guess what I'm saying is that all of us need to work together and help each other. In the end we will be helping our llamas.
We encourage others to join the CLI effort. We'd be happy to talk with anyone who has questions about our decision or about CLI.
